About Crescent Counseling in Dallas
You’re searching for counseling in Dallas…
And if you've been at this for a while, you know how it goes. You find someone who sounds good on paper. You reach out and don't hear back. Or you do hear back, and the first session feels fine but something's off… too surface, too scripted, not quite what you were hoping for. You try again. You're still searching.
Maybe you've already done therapy. Maybe it helped to a point. You have more insight than you used to, you understand your patterns better, and something is still not moving. You're still getting triggered in ways you wish you weren't. You still feel it in your body even when your mind knows better. You want something that goes deeper than what you've been offered. Something that actually reaches where this lives.
Or maybe you haven't tried therapy before and you're trying to figure out if it's even worth it, if the right person exists, if what you're carrying can actually be worked with, if you'll feel understood rather than assessed.
Whatever brought you here, you're looking for something real. A space that doesn't feel clinical or performative. People who are genuinely curious about you, not just your symptoms. Therapists who work at the level where things actually change.
That's what we built Crescent Counseling to be.
Amanda Stretcher Lewis, MA, LPC-S & Allison Schmid, MA, LPC
What Makes Our Counseling in Dallas Different
We are Amanda and Allison, your therapists at Crescent Counseling in Dallas.
We have worked together for years, connecting over our shared passion for cultivating healing in our Dallas community. We love seeing the growth our clients are capable of and are dedicated to helping you on your path to becoming healthier as an individual and in your relationships.
We created Crescent Counseling to offer trauma-informed, relational therapy that moves beyond surface-level coping strategies. We want to help you feel safer, more connected, and more fully yourself. We’ve built something together that reflects what we both believe therapy can be.
What brought us together, and what keeps us here, is a shared conviction about how healing actually happens. At Crescent Counseling, our work is grounded in relational therapy, nervous system awareness, and approaches such as Brainspotting, Safe and Sound Protocol, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Gottman-informed couples therapy. We specialize in supporting adults navigating anxiety, trauma, attachment wounds, and relational disconnection through embodied, relational, and evidence-informed approaches. We believe our therapy in Dallas supports deep and lasting healing.
Between us, we bring over 21 combined years of clinical experience serving adults and couples in Dallas. We genuinely believe in each other's work, and we think that shows.
Our Philosophy of Counseling in Dallas
We believe in your ability for growth and change as a clinical conviction that shapes how we work.
We work at the level where patterns actually live,e in the body, in the nervous system, in the relational history you carry. We help you reconnect to yourself and your values, not just manage your symptoms. And we’re honest with you, about what we're seeing, about what might help, and about whether we're the right fit.
We specialize in counseling in Dallas for trauma, anxiety, couples, adulting, disordered eating, Brainspotting, and the Safe and Sound Protocol.
We've been featured in Healthline, HuffPost, Livestrong, and Choosing Therapy — read more on our Press page.

Specialized Training & Trauma-Informed Counseling in Dallas
We've invested significantly in our training, not to collect credentials, but because we believe that the depth of what we bring to the room matters for the people we work with.
Amanda holds a Brainspotting Certification and is currently in a Consultant-in-Training cohort, meaning she is actively being mentored and refining this work at a deeper level. She has completed Level 1 and Level 2 Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, holds an ISSTD Certificate in Complex Trauma and Dissociation, and is certified in the Safe and Sound Protocol and Rest and Restore Protocol. She has been practicing trauma-informed therapy in Dallas since 2013, including TX LPC-S License #71824.
Allison has completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 and Level 2 training, including Treating Affairs and Trauma in Couples, and is Prepare Enrich certified. She brings a deeply relational and values-based approach to her work with individuals and couples. She has been practicing in Dallas since 2017, including TX LPC License #77136.
Together, we have a commitment to ongoing learning, consultation, and refinement that we believe shows in the work.
Why Choose Crescent Counseling in Dallas?
If you've read this far, you likely already have a sense of whether this feels like the right fit. That sense matters, because we believe (and the research shows) the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes, which means fit is as important as credentials.
We offer in-person therapy at our Dallas office at 4040 N Central Expressway, Suite 670, accessible from Uptown, the M Streets, Highland Park, Lake Highlands, and surrounding neighborhoods. Virtual therapy is available throughout Texas for those who prefer it or whose schedule or location makes in-person difficult.
We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. We provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement and partner with Reimbursify to make that process as straightforward as possible. Many of the clients we work with find that the ability to access specialized, focused care is worth the investment, but we're happy to talk through the financial piece during a consultation.
If we're not the right fit, whether that's because of specialty, availability, or simply a sense that the match isn't quite right, we'll tell you honestly and do our best to point you somewhere better. We'd rather help you find the right person than keep you in a relationship that isn't working.
Ready to Begin Counseling in Dallas?
Whenever you're ready, whether that's today or after sitting with this for a while, we're here. The consultation call is free, fifteen minutes, and genuinely low pressure. Just a conversation.
