ADHD and binge eating connect in different ways, partly due to low dopamine levels, impulsivity, inattention, and emotional dysregulation. Some of those with ADHD may struggle with disorganized schedules that lead to large consumption of food at once rather than throughout the day. Medication side effects can also contribute to binge eating.
OSFED (other specified feeding and eating disorder) is a diagnosis given to people who experience a great deal of distress or difficulties related to eating behaviors, but don’t meet the criteria for any other eating disorders, such as anorexia or bulimia. Treatments for OSFED typically include therapy, medication, self-coping, and in severe cases, may require hospitalization or in-patient treatment.
Codependency is when one person in a relationship consistently puts someone else’s needs ahead of their own. It typically involves a deep emotional reliance on a partner, with tendencies like excessive caretaking, difficulty setting boundaries and saying no, and an overwhelming need for approval. It usually comes from past experiences and can make relationships feel one-sided.
Cumulative grief is the experience of grieving multiple losses over time, where the emotional impact layers upon itself. It often occurs when one doesn’t have the chance to fully process one loss before another occurs, leading to an overwhelming accumulation of unresolved grief. This type of grief can be complex and deeply affect the individual.
